History’s Fingerprints
I had the pleasure to visit multiple magnificent buildings during this year’s Open House in Prague. However, there were 2 that truly stood out with regard to the intention to materialize what history has to teach us and trying to somehow reflect this in a new structure. First up was the Nusle Brewery which is in the final stages of its revitalization. While the authors gave the whole grounds completely different purpose, the heritage is nonetheless utilized in a beautiful way. Secondly, I went to see the National Theatre, which I believe vividly encapsulates what it means when history leaves its fingerprints on our future. In a mesmerisingly simple yet poetic way the authors capture the light rays from the past and actually reflect them in a fresh form.
