The image portrays La Vela, a monumental steel and concrete structure designed by Santiago Calatrava for Rome’s Tor Vergata area. Originally conceived as a symbol of modernity and ambition, the project remained unfinished for years and is currently undergoing restoration. The title Icarus recalls that initial aspiration—bold and visionary—now in tension with a fragmented present. Yet, the two ascending figures reflect an enduring human effort: climbing toward the future, reviving what once aimed to soar. Their presence transforms the structure into more than an abandoned dream—into a living metaphor for resilience and rebirth.
