Bilbao is a city that has undergone a profound urban, social and cultural transformation, and the estuary has been both the witness and the protagonist of this entire process. It was here that the industrial activity which shaped the city’s identity for decades was concentrated, and today, it has become a cultural hub. The estuary clearly reflects Bilbao’s capacity for reinvention, symbolising its transition from an industrial past to an innovative present. With this project, I approach the estuary to observe how its evolution persists and how it continues to be a space for creation, change and the future, with Bilbao building and growing around it.
