Looking into a dynamic future

Jacqueline Glarner Open House Barcelona 2025 · Future Heritage

We gaze through a window in the Palau del Marquès d’Alfarràs in Barcelona—a window that, intriguingly, only faces the ceiling of the adjacent room. This palace is a cultural heritage site with over a thousand years of history, dating back to the 11th century, when it was originally built as a watchtower.

We broaden our perspective, unlock inward visions and open ourselves to a different kind of future—one represented by another form of architecture: a residential building on Avinguda del Coll del Portell, constructed in the early 1970s.

By overlapping the two buildings, we can observe their differences—but, perhaps surprisingly, also their similarities. They become connected and create the basis for future projects.
