What can yesterday’s monuments ”write” about today’s space-time? What signs do they give us?
MONUMENTAL UTOPIAS are about re-injecting some imagination into old monuments through performance art, stories, images, and animated films. My goal is to bring them back to life, to a contemporary life, by incorporating the poetic vision which their architecture inspires me, so that they can have a future beyond centuries.
I dreamed of each of these monuments I work on, and of the men who built them. And since I could not always understand their past meaning, I tried to see what the forms had to say to me today. Through my sensivity as an architect, I was able to give them a fresh place within a contemporary dream journey.
