Time Capsule
The RCSI Time Capsule installation by artist Vanessa Donoso López and curator Clodagh Kenny embodies “Future Heritage” through a profound architectural dialogue. Situated within No. 26 York Street RCSI’s landmark building designed as a beacon of transparency and innovation, the work becomes an extension of the architecture itself. Its two level display of glass boxes aligns with the building’s geometric rhythm, echoing its open, light-filled spatial composition. The interplay of reflective surfaces and structural precision transforms the piece into both sculpture and architectural feature. Each clay capsule, made from soil gathered at historic RCSI sites, contains a student’s handwritten aspiration, linking material heritage with architectural modernity. The installation’s transparent framework mirrors RCSI’s architectural ethos: clarity, accessibility, and continuity. Photographing the Time Capsule revealed how built form and artistic expression intertwine, how architecture can hold the immaterial dimensions of memory, ambition, and time.
