Trolleybus
SelectedAs Open House Vilnius explained: ‘In the early post-war decade, as Vilnius expanded, the city needed a new, durable mode of transportation that could carry more passengers. In the duel between tram and trolleybus, it was the trolleybus that won as it was better suited to the narrow streets of the Old Town.’.
Today, trolleybuses remain one of the most eco-friendly modes of public transportation in Vilnius. Promoting public transport is essential for a sustainable future, and trolleybuses are expected to remain a part of that future. This visual story was created in the Antakalnis Trolleybus Depot—a place where the past and future of Vilnius’ public transport meet. Time will tell how this depot, with its blend of old and new trolleybuses and buildings, will evolve in the years to come.
