Met Éireann
SelectedThis watercolour painting is based on a photograph I took while on a tour of Met Éireann, where I volunteered for Open House Dublin 2023. I chose this building for the theme of ‘Building Futures Together’ as it is here, at the Irish Meteorological Centre, that climate change is being monitored.
The architect, Liam McCormick, was also conscious of saving energy when he designed the building; the pyramid shape means that the surrounding buildings are not cast in shadow and he was inspired by the way fungi grow on terraces to receive more light. I think this design is a perfect example of how we should build a future together—by being aware of a building’s impact on its surroundings and other people.
