To encourage the exchange of knowledge and experience, Open House Europe facilitates volunteer exchanges between partner organisations. The programme is dedicated to international learning and collaboration among European cities and Open House Europe partners.
In 2023, exchanges were held across all 11 partner organisations in Europe. 57 volunteers participated, actively contributing to the success of Open House events while also gaining valuable insights to bring back for their local festivals. Volunteers are key to shaping the Open House Europe project and these exchanges provide them with the opportunity to learn firsthand from those who organise Open House festivals.
It was a wonderful weekend; the Tallinn volunteers were all friendly and professional; our group of exchange volunteers was the best group of people to spend time with; and the city was very welcoming overall.

How to
participate
The Volunteer Exchange Programme welcomes volunteers to participate by completing a form which is available separately for each festival. Volunteers are selected for the exchange by the local Open House festival organisers. Stay connected with your festival's social media channels to be informed about the latest open calls and events, ensuring you don't miss out on any opportunities!
