Open House Lisboa
Open House Lisboa
Open House Lisboa returns on the weekend of May 11 and 12, 2024, with a programme of guided tours and urban walks curated by sociologist Sandra Marques Pereira and architect Alexandre Marques Pereira.
The 13th edition of the festival, titled ‘Hybrid designs for transitional spaces,’ includes visits to 74 spaces and brings out the changes that Lisbon has undergone over time, which happen through transitions that are enduring with greater or lesser longevity. All are invited for an exploration of the transitions that endure in buildings, public spaces, and neighbourhoods.
The programme also comprises Plus and Junior activities, tours and accessible visits, themed collections, and several tours in English. The entire programme is admission-free. Entry is on a first-come, first-served basis, with the exception of 4 spaces requiring prior booking.
As part of the Open House Europe 2024 programme, which focuses on accessibility and inclusion, inclusive experiences are featured prominently on the programme of Open House Lisboa and invite visitors to learn about the built environment in dialogue with everyone. A tactile tour of a recently renovated apartment in Trindade, exciting and accurate audio descriptions of six spaces in the Bairro Alto neighbourhood, a Portuguese Sign Language tour of a historical collective housing neighbourhood, tactile models, relief drawings, augmented and Braille texts for autonomous exploration, and more than a dozen spaces with full accessibility—Open House Lisboa offers experiences for all.
We invite visitors of Open House Lisboa to participate in the Open Call for Visual Stories. It is an opportunity for everyone to interpret their experiences of the festival and the annual theme of Open House Europe—Accessibility and Inclusion—in any art form they wish—a series of photographs, a short film, a drawing, or any other medium for a visual narrative.
