Open House Milano celebrates its tenth edition on 17–18 May 2025 with over 100 locations opening their doors to the public, offering a rare chance to explore the city’s architectural identity from the inside. The festival continues to reveal the hidden layers of the city—from landmark urban regeneration sites to private homes, design studios, cultural venues, and hybrid spaces—through free guided tours and thematic routes.

This year’s edition, titled “In a Relationship,” explores the deep connections between people and places, past and future, architecture and daily life. It highlights architecture’s role not just as a backdrop but as a social instrument that fosters dialogue, participation, and collective belonging. The festival invites everyone to reflect on how the spaces we inhabit shape us—and how we, in turn, shape them.

As part of the continent-wide Open House Europe programme, Open House Milano 2025 contributes to the shared theme of “Future Heritage.” The theme raises questions about what we choose to preserve, what stories we pass on, and how we build more inclusive and sustainable cities for future generations. A dedicated “Future Heritage” itinerary will guide visitors through sites emblematic of Milan’s evolving legacy. These include ARIA – Ex Macello, one of Europe’s largest urban regeneration projects; Pirelli 35, a new model of integrated redevelopment; the civic landmark Casa della Memoria; Opificio 31, a former industrial site now home to cultural and creative production; Fornace Curti and its community of artisans; and the Torre Arcobaleno, a once-forgotten water tower transformed into a vibrant urban icon.

This year’s programme continues to expand across Milan’s six historic districts—Porta Orientale, Romana, Ticinese, Vercellina, Nuova, and Comasina—with thematic routes that explore the city’s social, cultural, and architectural transformations. Highlights include the San Siro redevelopment projects SYRE and EASY, designed by Studio Marco Piva; the future green plaza of Piazzale Loreto (LOC); and guided tours of private homes, ateliers, and renowned architectural studios such as ACPV Architects, Park Associati, and Barreca & La Varra.

We invite all visitors of Open House Milano to participate in the Open Call for Visual Stories—an opportunity to creatively interpret the festival experience and this year’s Open House Europe theme, “Future Heritage”. Submissions can take any visual form, including photography, short film, drawing, or other artistic expressions.
